SUV with big boot

Some of the key considerations when leasing a new vehicle are load capacity, practicality, storage space and boot size – particularly if you’re a large family or business owner. Our handy guide highlights the best cars with big boots to help you get the most out of your lease vehicle.

Mercedes V-Class

This premium minivan offers plenty of space, with its vast range of seating configurations and expansive boot size making it the ideal choice for business lease and personal finance customers alike. The standard 4.9m V-Class offers a 610-litre boot, while the 5.37m extra long version offers up to 1,410 litres of boot space with the seats up. Both the long and extra long models utilise eight seats as standard, and all five rear seats can be removed to result in 4,630 litres of space.

Audi Q7

The second generation of Audi’s full-size SUV is suited to both professional and personal use, with plenty of smaller storage spaces, a roomy interior and an extensive boot. The Q7’s electric front seats are easily adjustable and the middle seats recline and slide forwards, offering more leg and headroom in all three rows. Although the Audi Q7 has a 295-litre boot capacity with all seven seats in place, dropping the second and third rows via a button in the boot will result in a generous 1,955 litres.

BMW X5

BMW’s premium SUV utilises large door pockets, a roomy cabin and a big boot, combining elevated ride height with all-wheel drive for performance and practicality. Measuring in at 4.86m long, 1.93m wide and 1.78m tall, the X5 is ideal for those looking for generous leg, shoulder and headroom. The boot offers a minimum of 650 litres of space, which becomes 1,761 litres when the back seats are folded. BMW X5 drivers can also opt for a seven-seater model with two extra rear seats which fold up out of the boot floor.

Volvo V60

The Volvo V60 features sizeable cubbies, spacious compartments and an expansive boot to accommodate additional storage, offering plenty of space for business or family excursions. At 4.76m long and 1.92m wide, the premium estate car has room to spare with 539 litres behind the rear seats. The back seats and headrests can be folded down at the touch of a button, with 1,441 litres of boot space available when the back seats are flat. There’s also more storage space available beneath the floor in models that don’t store a spare wheel.

Tesla Model X

If you’re looking to lease a spacious and practical electric model, the Tesla Model X employs adjustable second row seats and two boots for optimal storage space. Measuring in at just over 5m long and 2.3m wide, the Model X is available with anything between five and seven seats. A 187-litre boot beneath the bonnet is best suited to smaller luggage, while folding the rear seats down results in 2,180 litres of boot space in the back. This storage space can be expanded by dropping the boot floor down or removing it completely.

Mercedes GLE

Measuring in at 4.92m long and 1.77m tall, the Mercedes GLE is ideal for those looking for a lease car that can accommodate holiday luggage, storage boxes or heavy equipment. This model offers plenty of head and legroom in the roomy cabin, along with adjustable electric rear seats and enormous rear doors that ensure easy access to storage space. As a five-seater, the GLE utilises 825 litres of boot space, which expands to 2,055 litres when the second row of seats is folded away.

Land Rover Discovery

This premium seven-seater SUV offers ample leg room and generous storage space, with multiple seating configurations and a split-folding second row of seats. With the HSE or HSE Luxury trim, the rear seats can be folded at the touch of a button using the touchscreen for convenience. With all seven seats in place there’s a 258-litre boot capacity, while six seats result in 698 litres of storage and five seats equals a 1,137-litre boot. Folding all seats down in the seven-seater model offers 2,406 litres of boot space.

Porsche Cayenne

Porsche’s high-performance SUV combines sports car performance with off-roader capability, offering a plush and spacious five-seat interior. At 4.92m long, 1.7m high and 1.98m wide, the Cayenne offers generous leg, shoulder and headroom. The boot space is 745 litres on the smallest model, while the standard version accommodates 770 litres and up to 1,710 with the seats down.

Skoda Kodiaq

This compact SUV is available as either a five or seven-seater, with a range of engine options and four-wheel drive variants. The boot space is 720 litres in the five-seater, which rises to 2,005 litres with the rear seats folded. Although the seven-seater has a smaller 270-litre boot, folding the seats results in 630 litres of space. The Kodiaq also utilises a generous glovebox, sizeable door pockets, a hanging rail for shopping and a cubby beneath the boot floor.

Nissan X-Trail

The Nissan X-Trail is a practical and spacious SUV that is ideally suited to families, with the option of five or seven seats and an adjustable cargo system in the boot. The boot capacity in the seven-seater model is 565 litres with the seats up, which increases to 1,996 litres when the second and third row of seats are down. The X-Trail also features a luggage board which enables nine different boot configurations.
